Only You Can Save Mankind – The Album

Wednesday, 4th March , 2009

We have just received the following good news from Leighton James House;

Dear Rob.

Only You Can Save Mankind – The Album

As if you didn’t already have enough Pratchett news for one month, here’s ours…

After our critically acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Festival  in 2004 – and a 5 year break, tut, tut – I am delighted to tell you what’s been going on, and is about to happen with the musical.

The Album

I am heading into London’s Air Edel Studio’s later this month to record some of the musical numbers. I have in place an amazing team of producers, engineers, arrangers, orchestrators, 20+ musicians, a choir and already confirmed – the vocal talents of Sharon D. Clarke, Zubin Varla and on her cello, BBC’s Maestro judge, Zoë Martlew. Unfortunately I can’t tell you the other singers… yet… or the surprise guests – but they are all going to be fantastic! This is going to be released digitally in June.

We are making a contribution from every download, CD sale etc to the Alzheimer’s Research Trust – which will be for as long as the recorded material is in copyright (currently 50 years!)

The UK tour

Headed by the remarkable director Nikolai Foster (‘The Witches of Eastwick’, ‘All The Fun of the Fair’ and ‘Aspects of Love’) we will be soon be announcing the news regarding early dates for the national tour.

So Only You Can Save Mankind will be invading theatres across the UK in 2010. I had to tell someone the good news.

If not you, then who?

Best wishes,

Leighton
