Description
The Last Continent by Terry Pratchett – Letterbox Edition (Josh Kirby cover).
Anything you do in the past changes the future. The smallest actions can have enormous consequences. You might tread on an ant now and prevent someone from being born centuries later.
Rincewind, inept wizard and professional survivor, has been deposited on the Discworld’s last continent. It is hot. It is dry. There was once something called The Wet, though no one believes in it any more. Practically everything that is not poisonous is venomous. Drop bears, meat pie floaters, and a landscape that has not seen rain in living memory are only the beginning. The place is unfinished, drying out, and on the verge of falling apart. The only person between it and wind-blown doom is Rincewind, and he cannot even spell “wizard.”
Meanwhile, back in Ankh-Morpork, the senior wizards of Unseen University are trying to cure the Librarian and somehow end up interfering with the continent’s creation itself. Time, evolution, and a great deal of accidental magic become thoroughly tangled. Still, no worries, eh?
First published in 1998, The Last Continent is Discworld novel 22 and the sixth book in the Wizards sequence. It continues after Interesting Times and can be read on its own, though the full Rincewind chaos is best enjoyed in order. Terry Pratchett would like it known that this is not a book about Australia. It is just vaguely Australian.
This new Letterbox paperback restores Josh Kirby’s vibrant, chaotic cover art in the distinctive horizontal format. Exclusive to Discworld.com, each copy is embossed with Terry Pratchett’s signature plate, sealed by his coat of arms, and includes a metallic wafer for authenticity.
Dimensions: 128 mm × 198 mm × 26 mm.
A sharp, affectionate roast of outback stereotypes, time-travel paradoxes, and the peculiar logic of wizards who should never be left in charge of evolution. Add to cart and dodge the dingoes.
